Yesterday was a sad day for British wrestling as Kris Travis retired from professional wrestling, but also proved that in life your health and well being has to come first. Kris Travis was a true british great holding many titles with promotions including Revolution Pro Wrestling, Preston City Wrestling, IPW:UK and 1PW, Also impressing on TNA’s British Bootcamp. He was a phenomenal tag team wrestler with his Project Ego partner Martin Kirby wrestling all over the UK ,winning several tag team championships and always leaving it all in the ring!! The Sheffield native came up against his biggest battle outside the ring though when he kicked stomach cancers ass earlier this year, it was after winning his fight when I had the honour and pleasure of witnessing him challenge Drew Galloway for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship during Insane Championship Wrestling’s run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The noise inside the City Nightclub when he made his way out was unreal and the air filled with “Trav! Trav! Trav!” chants!! He didn’t disappoint when the bell rang and matched Galloway move for move, taking high risk moves and getting many near falls. Even though he may not have got the three count and won the belt, he still got the reception of a champion from the fans in attendance that night! That memory will live with me forever and for that Kris Travis i thank you!!
