PREVIEW OF ICW FEAR & LOTHIAN III

Insane Championship Wrestling’s first show after the biggest event in their history Fear & Loathing VIII takes place tonight at City Nightclub in Edinburgh, Fear & Lothian III.

The first match announced is Mikey Whiplash against Liam Thomson, after going through an absolute war inside the cage against the New Age Kliq and going through those tables it begs to question what condition will Whiplash be in?He will have his work cut out against the Bad Boy Liam Thomson in the Bad Boys home of Edinburgh, but what frame of mind will Thomson be in after Carmel dishing out some revenge at the SECC. One thing that can be guaranteed is this is going to be a battle between to greats of ICW.

A match to determine the number one contender for the Zero G Championship between Joe Hendry and Noam Dar will take place. Both men have been out of the title picture during Red Lightning’s reign but now he’s gone this is a great opportunity for both and one I’m sure both will make the most of. With Hendry and Dar teaming up together at Fear & Loathing they will have to leave their friendship in the back and bring their A game to Edinburgh if they want to move on for a shot to have gold around their waist.

A battle of the behemoths will take place with The Iron Man Joe Coffey facing The Beast Of Belfast Damo. I’m not sure the ring will be big enough to contain these two warriors, with both men on a roll as of late and wanting to get back into the ICW World Heavyweight Title picture. Both men came away from the SECC with victories over Rhyno and Jack Jester respectively and will be hoping a win here will continue their way up the pecking order and potentially a meeting with the World Heavyweight Champion but for both it will be a tough challenge as in each other they face possibly their toughest challenges in recent months. Who will come out on top The Iron Man or The Beast Of Belfast?

The recently crowned first ever ICW Women’s Champion Viper defends against the returning Pipebomb Princess Carmel Jacob in the challengers home town. Viper made quite the impression when commissioner for the evening placed her in the match for the Women’s Title coming away with the win against Kay Lee Ray and Nikki Storm as did Carmel when she got revenge on Liam Thomson with a steel chair. The champion showed at Fear & Loathing that she has what it takes to call herself the best women’s wrestler in ICW and will have to pull off a performance like that again at City Nightclub if she wishes to keep a hold of her championship belt.

Newly crowned ICW Zero G Champion Davey Boy will have his first defence against former champion Kenny Williams. Davey Boy put in the performance of his career to win the belt from his ex Bucky Boys partner Stevie Boy and will be wanting to keep his title for more than 2 weeks, but in facing Kenny he meets a man who knows exactly how to win the belt and keep it. This match will be a battle of two different styles with Davey’s power and strength against Kenny’s speed and agility, which will prevail? Either way I think the real winners will be the fans in the City Nightclub as this match has the makings to be an awesome Zero G Title match.

The 55 get their rematch against Polo Promotions for the ICW Tag Team Titles. The champions extended their 400+ day reign at Fear & Loathing with victory over Sha Samuels and Kid Fite, but the challengers will be looking to avenge that defeat and gain The 55’s first gold in Insane Championship Wrestling. With James R Kennedy previously saying that money and gold means power, just how powerful a force could The 55 become if they leave with the Tag Team belts? But the advantage is with the champions as they have held the titles for over 400 days and have beaten some of the best tag teams that ICW and British wrestling has to offer, but apart from that they also hold that recent win over The 55.

The main event of Fear & Lothian III sees ICW World Heavyweight Champion Grado (damn that sounds so good) defending for the first time against The Bad Mother Fucker Lionheart. With the crowd firmly behind Grado at Fear & Loathing I can’t see it being any different at the City Nightclub and this will be a huge advantage for the champion. I’m not entirely sure what has made Lionheart deserving of a World Heavyweight Championship shot as he has lost quite a few matches as of late including the farcical loss to Jack Jester where he went down to a poke to the chest. I don’t think there can be any other outcome that Grado retaining his title he will have the momentum, confidence and backing of the crowd, which will be a huge factor.

One thing to consider though is the absence of both the New Age Kliq and The Black Label from the card in Edinburgh. I can’t see Black Label being best pleased with how they fared at Fear & Loathing with both Jester and Drew Galloway and the humiliation of Red Lightning which ended with him handing in his resignation as General Manager . Tonight could be the night for retribution and maybe even a return to the ring for Red Lightning? As for the NAK Chris Renfrew has been pretty vocal on social media letting the people of Edinburgh know that Glasgow is far superior and a reminder that Card Is Subject To Change. With Renfrew still having the Square Go briefcase in his possession and only until the Fifth Annual Square Go in January to cash in will tonight be his time to cash in on Grado?
