The year of 2017 started with a bang thanks to January’s Ultimate Wrestle Crate. If you haven’t subscribed then what are you playing at head to their website http://www.wrestlecrate.co.uk and check out their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/WrestleCrateUK/ and follow them on Twitter @WrestleCrateUK
The first item of 2017 was a cracking one, it was another Funko Pop Vinyl Figure and this time the figure was Kevin Owens!! I have been a huge fan of him for a long time since his independent days where he was known as Kevin Steen and to now have a figure of one of my favourite ever wrestlers is amazing!! The style of the Pop figures is really unique and it captures KO in all his glory, complete with KO t-shirt and shorts. My ever growing collection of WWE Funko Pop Vinyl figures seems to be coming along nicely now.
Next out was the second in the series of exclusive Wrestle Crate pin badges, this months pin badge pays homage to one of the most hilarious mishaps in wrestling history…. The Shockmaster!! The iconic sparkly helmet takes centre stage of the pin badge next to the word Shocking, these badges are truly great and can’t wait to have the complete set in my possession.
As a child I used to love collecting trading cards, so the inclusion of a trading card from Golden Stars. The card included in this months Crate was of current WXW Shotgun Champion ‘The Product’ David Starr, it is a great looking card and Starr takes centre stage of the card. You can find out more about Golden Stars on their website http://www.golden-stars.co.uk/
This month we were treated to an amazing poster from Portrait Of A Wrestler, adorning the poster are Pete Dunne, William Eaver, Jack Gallagher, Jimmy Havoc and Lord Gideon Grey. The work of Portrait Of A Wrestler is outstanding and captures wrestlers in a great light and this poster is awesome, it will look superb in a frame on the wall or to take to shows to try to get it signed by the wrestlers.
The latest edition of the fantastic wrestling magazine Calling Spots was inside this months Crate, I won’t give away what is inside the magazine but it is a cracking read. The WWE Raw Women’s champion is on the front of the magazine and the cover looks great as Charlotte stands out from the others on the front. I have been reading Calling Spots from its first edition and can guarantee you won’t be left disappointed when you read. If you want to check out Calling Spots then head over to their website http://callingspots.com/
This months DVD was Preston City Wrestling’s Fifth Anniversary show, the card is a great one. With Noam Dar, El Ligero, Dave Mastiff, Jeff Cobb and Jay White on the card, the match I am most looking forward to seeing on the DVD is Dave Mastiff V Jay White as I am a huge Mastiff fan and Jay White is one of the hottest talents on the planet right now. If you haven’t seen any PCW then this is the perfect way to get a taste of what they are all about.
Each months t-shirts are amazing and this months did not disappoint with a Wrestle Crate exclusive Bray Wyatt design on the front. It is in the style of a playing card, the image of Bray captures him at his most creepy best with the word FOLLOW in place of his eyes. This is up there with my favourite shirts that Wrestle Crate have made, it would not look out of place at a rock music gig or festival not just a wrestling show. Well done Wrestle Crate you have done a cracking job yet again.
The best item out of this months Crate was saved for last in my opinion as I really do love the man that features on this piece, that man being Mr Jimmy Havoc!! This amazing print of Havoc captures him in his truly disturbing glory with his mask and spiked jacket, what makes this that extra bit special is that it is signed by Jimmy. I will need to find a frame for this beauty as it is far too good to not be shown off!!
SOMEONE STOP THE DAMN MATCH!!
