Ahead of the highly anticipated rematch between Dean Allmark and Bubblegum in a 30 minute Iron Man Match at PCW in Liverpool, we had a chat with British wrestler and all round top man Dean Allmark. Check him out on twitter at @DeanAllmark and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/WrestlerDeanAllmark/
How was 2016 for Dean Allmark?

It was a great year wrestling wise had so many great matches including a first time encounter with Bubblegum which got nominated for match of the year in the Fighting Spirt Magazine awards. But from June until the beginning of this year i was struggling with a health issue of which the side effects were coughing, spitting and passing blood which was the toughest time in my life. During this time I did nearly 100 shows in 10 weeks then flew to Japan and defended the World Superslam Championship.

Which wrestlers you fought do you see having a great year?

It’s impossible to pin point just one person with all the amazing talent on the British scene right now. I know this will be a big year for us all.

What promotions did you compete in last year?

All Star Wrestling, Target Wrestling, PCW, Megaslam Wrestling, EPW, Diamond Stars Wrestling (Japan), Welsh Wrestling.

What’s your plans for the future in wrestling?

Just to keep wrestling and get back to full health again.

You’ve wrestled the camps, what is it like?

The camps are my favourite time of the year I do 10 shows a week with different guys every week it really is the best place to learn your craft.

Do you prefer wrestling the camps or independent shows?

As long as I’m wrestling I’m happy.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given during your career?

Robbie Brookside told me me when I first started to “keep my ears and eyes open and mouth closed”.

What did you think of the WWE UK Championship tournament?

I haven’t watched it yet but it’s a big deal for British wrestling for sure.

If you could wrestle any current wrestler from across the globe, who would it be?

I think Kota Ibushi would be fun.

What is your entrance music and what made you choose it?

“It’s like that” by Run DMC vs Jason Nevins as it was a popular song when I first started training to wrestle.

Where are you set to appear in the next month?

I have mostly lots of All Star shows in February but also have round 3 of me vs Bubblegum which is a 30 minute ironman match in Liverpool for PCW and the Kris Travis Tournament at the end of the month in Preston for PCW.

With British wrestling being back in the spotlight, what do you think has helped achieve this?

Obviously the World Of Sport which aired on New Year’s Eve and WWE UK tournament helped a lot but I think it’s just down to the great talent and promotions that are around right now.
Massive thank you to Dean for taking the time to have a chat with us and all the best against Bubblegum. Let us know what you though of the interview over on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SomeoneStopTheDamnMatch/
